Rosetrees funded Stevens Group named Research Group of the Year

Stevens group win award

The European Life Science Awards recognise the contributions of those in the life science field, and this award is given to the group that has demonstrated an unparalleled ability of excellence. Professor Stevens is pictured next to researchers Ciro Chiappini and Coline Jumeaux. Ciro is working on the Rosetrees funded Ban Cancer project that will accurately detect the location of tumour margins during surgery using an array of nanoscale needles prepared to sense cancer cells. Rosetrees are supporting Coline to investigate new nanomaterials to detect and treat cancer.

Rosetrees funded researcher Professor Rahman ranked third in the BBC Radio 4 Woman’s Hour Power List

Professor Nazneen Rahman

Professor Nazneen Rahman was recognised as one of ten ‘game-changing’ women, whose perseverance and belief have made a difference to the lives of those around them.

As a geneticist and doctor specialising in cancer and disease gene recovery, Prof Rahman has made significant advances in her field and new discoveries in cancer research. Specifically Professor Rahman’s research focuses on identifying genes that predispose people to breast or childhood cancers. Her research has led to better screening and preventative treatments, improved diagnosis, management and treatment of these types of cancers.

Rosetrees launches first ever crowd funding research project

The appeal is to raise £60,000 for a research project by Professor George Dickson into potential drugs for FSH muscular dystrophy. We have raised £10,000 from private donations and Rosetrees will give £30,000. There remains a further £20,000 to raise.

For the first time we have created an appeal page on our website and so far we have raised over £4000.

If you know anyone who can help or might be interested, please do forward the link below. It is an excellent project that was highly rated by independent peer review and, from all accounts, Professor Dickson is one of the top UK scientists in this area. It has also been endorsed by patient groups in the US and the EU

Rosetrees Trust FSH-MD Campaign

Thank you for reading our latest newsletter. As the World Cup reaches its crescendo and once again the England team falls disappointedly short of the world best, we console ourselves at Rosetrees that the UK has cutting edge medical research at the forefront of the world.

Wishing you a sunny Summer.
